What does living the dream look like to you? For many, it means being free to roam. To let go of what was and to embrace what is. For you, this might mean selling the family home and purchasing something smaller (downsizing), reducing possessions (right-sizing), and passing on those family heirlooms to the next generation (more on that later).
Living the dream could mean heading out on the road in search of new sites and adventures. It could mean time for visiting with family, hobbies, pickle-ball tournaments, card games, or playing a round of golf in all 50 states (I know a couple who did this!)
Are you ready to live your dream? Very often, downsizing (right-sizing) is the first step.
Let me introduce you to the Batemans from Phoenix, Arizona. I’ve known Deborah Bateman for several years having met when we shared the stage at a YWCA Women’s Empowerment event in Phoenix. And while I don’t personally know her husband Tim, I feel like I do. You see, as a subscriber to their blog Risk Blossoming, I have lived vicariously through them and laughed out loud with them as they share their adventures on the road. They have successfully downsized to a smaller home and are free to roam about the country in their motorcoach, affectionately referred to as BAM.
Read their story of decluttering and downsizing here: https://www.riskblossoming.com/rightsizing-to-live-the-life-you-dream/. Be sure to subscribe to the Risk Blossoming blog. It’s highly entertaining!
Back to heirlooms: Here’s a link to a radio show I did with NPR-KJZZ on the subject. Ouch, it’s a sensitive subject.
